Plato’s metaphysics and Strawson’відночs descriptive metaphysics: analogies and incompatibilities
Abstract
The article compares the metaphysics of Plato, one of the founders of continental philosophy, as well as a descriptive metaphysics of Stroon, a representative of analytic philosophy. The analogies in the use of General concepts or universals and individual particularly, in the context of communicative interaction on the example of Plato's dialogues. Shows the need for the use of universals for the solution of moral problems. It becomes obvious that if the use of particularly evidence of moral decline, that of universals, on the contrary, – on improvement. Descriptive metaphysics of Stroon also provides for the presence of the person, but its properties are limited to the ability to recognize through the use of language. It can be argued that it fully obeys the basic tenets of logical empiricism, namely: recognition of experience as the primary source of knowledge. However, is important not only correct, but that is its subject. Descriptive metaphysics is not able to put such tasks, as its purpose is to clarify the language features. Traditional metaphysics studies not only the study of reality, directly presented in experience but also involves going beyond it. This output through the common concepts necessary to search deontology grounds. This is necessary because the description of reality not only involves the establishment of what is perceived and attributed to predicates and accepts them as the basis for existence. This approach can be seen in the ontology of Plato, which raises the issues discussed in descriptive metaphysics. The proof of the failure of particularly due to the need of the extension of moral requirements. Logical empiricism and descriptive metaphysics, as his embodiment, do not assume that because the main objective is to study the reflection of reality in language. In its framework it is possible to study through any logical means Plato proves the primacy of General concepts, but it is not a question of what they need.
