Origins of gender studies in modern science (XVII – early XIX centuries).
Abstract
The article analyzes the origins of gender studies and formation of patriarchal tradition in science of the classical period. The author indicates that Classical European science gave a start to philosophical and scientific reflection of sexual differentiation of society and culture, it attempted to justify female subjectivity, the combination of ontological principles of male/female which favoured shifting the problem discussion to the plane of social, cultural, legal and economic relations, it caused argumentation and study of the idea of equality of men and women as well as equality of their rights including their right to education.Downloads
