Implementation of CLILtechnology in the educational process of higher education institutions through the use of the best educational practices of the EU
Abstract
The article deals with the peculiarities of the implementation of CLILtechnology in the educational process of a higher education institution through the popularization of the best educational practices of the European Union, policy of multilingualism and common values. It is emphasized that modern Ukrainian education is constantly developing under the influence of processes of globalization, integration, constant exchange of information, interpenetration of languages and cultures. Thus, the University teachers are required not only to improve the level of their professional competence but also to enhance the level of foreign language proficiency. The article outlines the ways to overcome the contradiction between the need to increase the effectiveness of studying educational components in higher education institution and the ability to implement the specified technology in the educational process. The opinions of scientists regarding the definition of "CLIL-technology" and its main components, namely content, communication, cognition, and culture, are analyzed in detail. Certain difficulties of using CLILtechnology are outlined, the main one is the requirement for the teacher not only to have a professional competence but also to speak a foreign language at a level no lower than B2. Despite the difficulties of implementing CLIL-technology there are also some advantages of using the technology of subject-language integrated education, which significantly exceed the difficulties. It is concluded that the systematic use of CLIL-technology in the educational process of a higher education institution, namely in the process of training students on Jean Monnet module, lays the foundations for increasing the level of their competitiveness not only in the domestic, but in the foreign labour market as well. Such approach will promote the system of Ukrainian education to the European level.
