Using artificial intelligence technologies to create book illustrations in the professional training of future digital designers

Abstract

Artificial intelligence technologies are currently at the stage of
popularity, due to the spread of generative services. It is starting
to be widely implemented in all areas of people's lives – from
business to education. Artificial intelligence technologies allow to
generate texts, create videos, drive a car, analyze data, etc.
Artificial intelligence-based programs have emerged that can be
used to generate images. This can relieve digital designers of the
routine work of finding ideas to create their own illustrations for
print or online publications. In view of these trends, the article
analyses the capabilities of modern Internet image generation
services, the peculiarities of creating queries for high-quality
image generation, the results of image generation by means of
artificial intelligence, the use of the results of generative artificial
intelligence for illustrating a children's book, and the application of
artificial intelligence in the professional training of future digital
design specialists. A conclusion was made about the main
features of image generation tasks in various Internet services
(Hotpot, Stable Diffusion, Craiyon, Cutout, Midjourney) and the
results of image generation by these Internet services were
analyzed. The expediency of using generative artificial
intelligence services in the professional training of future digital
designers is noted in order to apply them in future professional
digital design activities, teaching them to correctly formulate
queries for image generation services and providing support and
tools for designers to work with artificial intelligence-based
services.
