Didactic basics of controlling students’ cognitive skills.
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the study of didactic potential of B. Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives. The categories of taxonomy which embraces a cognitive area have been analyzed. The necessity of measuring cognitive processes has been revealed and grounded. The examples which demonstrate how taxonomy can be applied in the process of teaching foreign languages have been given. On the basis of the conducted research the author drew the conclusion that in the process of teaching the attention should be paid not only to the formation of practical skills (lexical, grammar, phonetic etc.) and habits (reading, speaking, listening, writing). Students should be taught how to get the new information, analyze it, assess new ideas and correlate them with personal needs and goals. Practical skills of critical and efficient thinking must become not the object of study, but the result of teaching.Downloads
