National identity and possibilities of its formation through the means of art in children of older preschool age

Abstract

The article examines the currently relevant problem of using the
means of Ukrainian art for the effective process of national identity
formation in older preschool children. It was established that it is
necessary to use effective means of Ukrainian art, the results of
which in the future will form the «germs» of national
consciousness in children's minds. The interpretation of the
concepts of «national identity», «national consciousness» and
«Ukrainian national identity» in the modern prism of Ukrainian
history is given. The positive influence of Ukrainian art on the
process of formation of national consciousness of older preschool
children is described. It is emphasized that music, painting and
animation effectively influence the formation of national identity
and consciousness of older preschool children. The article
provides examples from Ukrainian culture and art that help a child
of older preschool age to establish his own life values and form a
patriotic position. The work of the Ukrainian singer and composer
A. Pyvovarov, his collection «Your poems, my notes» and its
influence on a child of older preschool age is considered and
analyzed. The painting compositions of the Ukrainian artist
M. Prymachenko are analyzed. It was found out what influence
M. Prymachenko's work has on Ukrainian culture, how her works
help to form national identity in a child of older preschool age. It is
emphasized that animated films are one of the most effective
means of art, with the help of which it is possible to form family,
spiritual, moral, cultural and national values in a child of older
preschool age. It is described that by using «correct» cartoons, we
form national values in older preschool children. The main ways of
using various types of art for the effective process of forming the
national identity of older preschool children in preschool education
institutions are characterized.
