Abstract

The article examines the current problem of inclusive education in
the modern Ukrainian education system and draws attention to the
revision of values and stereotypes associated with children with
special educational needs. The key principles of inclusive education
are highlighted, such as the accessibility of educational resources
for all children, individualization of learning, and the belief in the
value of every child for society. The article draws attention to the
importance of identifying and supporting gifted children with SEN
and calls for the cooperation of all participants in the educational
process to ensure the best development opportunities for this group
of students. The article’s main focus is on gifted children with
special needs, who are sometimes referred to as ‘twice special'.
Studies show that about 2% of people with disabilities are gifted,
and this category often includes children with various health and
developmental problems, such as attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder, dyspraxia, Asperger’s syndrome, hyperlexia, autism
spectrum disorders and others. The article emphasizes the
importance of flexible approaches in educational programs for these
children, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses. The
characteristics of gifted children with SEN, such as their lively
thinking, independence, initiative, and non-standard imagination,
must be taken into account.
