Liberal education as a component of the concept of “education” in analytical philosophy.
Abstract
The article deals with the interpretation of the concept of “education” as it was seen by the representatives of analytic philosophy such as I. Scheffler, P. Hirst and R. S. Peters. The concept of “liberal education” as a way of forming educational criteria is analyzed. Liberal education is not a certain type of education; rather it serves to eliminate certain obstacles that may interfere with education in its usual sense. Thus, the study of liberal education gives a possibility to reveal both the necessity and limitations of conceptual analysis.Downloads
