Abstract

At the current stage of Ukraine’s development and its transition from the industrial (society of producers and consumers) to the information society (society of services), there is no longer need in workers in the field of production, but there appeared a sufficient lack of specialists in the field of services. A new way of life is being formed, new habits, needs, interests, and values are appearing, that is, the very social person’s environment is changing; there is an increase in the volume and amount of services/responsibilities that a person shifts onto others. It results in a person’s changing and reorienting his/her basic skills and sub-skills; as Lyudmila Gorbunova states, a global movement forces education to move beyond the acquired knowledge and literacy skills.

The demand for high quality (with a decrease in quantity (reduction of workers)) has increased for all specialties, thus, new requirements have emerged: teamwork skills, reflexivity, responsibility for one’s own choice, interaction skills, mobility, etc. These corresponding qualities are known as transversal competences, which, in our opinion, should be formed by the new paradigm of education. They also include: “critical thinking”, “reflexive thinking”, “rational and non-violent decision making”, “communication skills” and “cooperation”. Communicative, interpersonal, and intrapersonal skills suggest developing “teamwork skills”, “collegiality”, “compromise capacity”, “empathy”, “self-discipline”, “self-esteem”, “the ability to cope with crisis” and “management of emotions and stress”.

A person realizes himself only in the process of activity (which also implies communication relations between people). In order to become a personality, moreover, a professional in one’s field, it is not enough to be professionally conscious, it is necessary (especially for managers and marketers who constantly have to communicate with other people) to possess personal human qualities, such as conscience, confidence, dignity, honor, etc. Development of one’s own subjectivity up to the level of conscience means a person’s awareness of responsibility for one’s own choice, which is one of the manager’s significant features.

Thus, it has been proved that transversal competencies become essential features of the person, among which it is worth mentioning critical thinking, the ability of teamwork for the sake of the overall result, the ability to make non-violent managerial decisions, developed subjectivity, self-esteem, honor and dignity that are formed, in particular, due to LLL.
