This article describes the psychological characteristics of younger pupils’ adaptation for studying at secondary school. The main external signs of maladjustment, the components of readiness to study at secondary school, the causes of school exclusion, the main task of the school psychologist for fifth class pupils psychological and pedagogical support are determined.
