The development of the Mennonites’ ethnoconfessional music education by means of sacred music

Abstract

The article traces the development of the Mennonites’ ethnoconfessional music education by means of sacred music. Collections of hymns and classification of spiritual songs have been characterized. The author reflects different views on the use of instrumental music while performing spiritual songs. The lack of instrumental accompaniment of the Mennonites’ hymns and spiritual songs has been noted. There is analyzed the attitude of modern pupils and students of etnoconfession colleges to choral sacred music, participation in music festivals and the impact of social changes on the performance of sacred music.
