Abstract

The article sets out criteria for evaluating artistic value in a literary work and outlines methods and techniques for evaluating a literary text. Currently, society is entering the orbit of neoliberal values, life priorities, values imposed by communist ideology are collapsing, and a return to spiritual and religious foundations is felt. In our opinion, the definition of methods and techniques for evaluating a literary text will allow future specialists to clearly distinguish between values and anti-values in fiction. The axiological approach in philosophy, aesthetics, sociology, psychology, ethics, and cultural studies is recognized as universal in the analysis of any phenomena of an anthropological order. Today, starting from the philosophical theory of values, the theoretical justification of the value approach in the study of literary creativity is relevant. There are all the prerequisites for this, namely, sufficient knowledge of the axiological nature of culture in general and, in particular, art. While determining and evaluating artistic value, certain criteria are necessary, on the basis of which a particular work of art can be called artistic value. Knowledge of the criteria for evaluating and determining artistic value, namely: imagery in a work of art; ideality of a work of art; harmony of the form and content of a work of art; aesthetics of a work of art; talent of the author; innovation of the author; language criterion or language of a work of art; style criterion or style of a work of art; historicism of a work of art significantly increase the level of value attitude of students to a work of art.
