The phenomenon of secularization in Ch. Taylor’s conception

Abstract

The article deals with Ch.Taylor’s conception of secularization. Leaning on the works of the Canadian philosopher, the author tried to outline the main elements of the process of secularization from the philosopher’s point of view. There are some basic elements among them: the emergence of “exclusive humanism”, disenchantment of the world, the transformation of the “porous self” into the “buffered self”, a change of attitude to the time etc. The question is raised whether it is possible to apply Ch.Taylor’s model to the analysis of current religious situation in Ukraine.
