Patriotic education in the primary education system at the present stage of state building

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the importance of patriotic and civic education in Ukraine, particularly in the context of modern challenges, including the war. In today's realities, the relevance of these education directions becomes especially significant, as the formation of national consciousness and an active civic stance among young people is a necessary condition for strengthening the state and its sovereignty. The author analyzes the role of schools, especially primary schools, in educating younger students, emphasizing the importance of teachers' examples and the use of various methods and forms of work. It is shown that effective national-patriotic education involves not only theoretical knowledge but also the practical application of this knowledge through various activities, including project work, clubs, excursions, and sports competitions. The article specifically highlights the importance of historical memory and cultural traditions as the foundation for forming national dignity and pride for the homeland. The role of the teacher as a guide to patriotic values is also discussed, focusing on their influence on children and the formation of a sense of belonging to the Ukrainian people and a readiness to serve the country.
