Formatting requirements and submission procedure for publications
Articles are accepted twice a year, by 30 April and 30 October of the current year.
One author may have only one publication in the current issue of the journal.
The journal ‘Scientific Bulletin of Melitopol State Pedagogical University (Series: Pedagogy)’ does not charge fees for submission, review, and publication of manuscripts.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ARTICLE FORMATTING:
Articles should be submitted in electronic format only (pedagogy@mdpu.org.ua) or uploaded directly through the OJS interface (https://magazine.mdpu.org.ua/index.php/nv) – Register – Submissions.
Language of the article: Ukrainian, English.
The length of the article should be between 0.4 (16,000) and 1 printed sheet (40,000 printed characters including spaces). (Menu – Tools – Statistics). The optimal length of the article is 0.5 printed sheets.
The text should be typed in MS Word.
Page settings: all margins – 2.5 cm, no headers or page numbering. Paper size – A4.
The font for the main text is Times New Roman, size 12, regular style. The text is printed without hyphenation.
Paragraph settings:
- alignment – justified;
- line spacing – 1;
- paragraph indentation – 1 cm;
- spacing between paragraphs – 0 mm.
PROHIBITION ON THE USE OF SCIENTIFIC WORKS FROM THE OCCUPYING COUNTRY
It is prohibited to quote in the text and include in bibliographic lists sources published in Russian in any country, as well as sources in other languages if they are published in Russia and Belarus.
PUBLISHING DESIGN OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE ARTICLE TEXT:
1. UDC index (universal decimal classification) (12 pt, in the left corner, bold font, no paragraph);
2. In Ukrainian:
- article title (12 pt, centred, semi-bold, capital letters);
- author's first and last name (full name, 12 pt, regular, centred);
- name of the institution where the author works (in full, 12 pt, centred, italics);
- Annotation: (12 pt, regular, semi-bold, no paragraph). Next, on a new line, the text of the annotation, 600 to 800 characters in length (12 pt, regular, full width, no paragraph);
- Keywords: (12 pt, semi-bold). Next, on the same line, list 3 to 8 keywords separated by semicolons (12 pt, regular, full width, no paragraph).
3. In English:
- Resume: (12 pt, regular, bold, no paragraph).
- Author's initials (on a new line, in full, 12 pt, regular, full width, no paragraph);
- Article title (12 pt, bold, immediately after the author's initials on the same line, lowercase letters). Next, on a new line, the text of the abstract, ranging from 1500 to 2000 printed characters (12 pt, regular, full width, no paragraph);
- Keywords: (12 pt, semi-bold) followed by a list of 3 to 8 keywords separated by semicolons (12 pt, regular, no paragraph).
4. The main text of the article (12 pt, regular font) should contain the following elements, approved by Resolution No. 7-06/1 of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine dated 15 January 2003 ‘On raising the requirements for professional publications included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine’:
- statement of the problem;
- analysis of recent studies and publications;
- formulation of the article's objectives;
- presentation of the main research material;
- conclusions.
5. List of sources used (in the original language):
- subtitle ‘List of references’ (separate paragraph, 12 pt, semi-bold font, capital letters, centred);
- the list of references (12 pt, regular font) is presented in alphabetical order and formatted in accordance with Ukrainian State Standard 8302:2015.;
- references to sources in the text should be given in round brackets (Ashitok, 2015, p. 4), indicating the author, year of publication and page number;
- active DOI in the bibliography;
- citations in WoS/Scopus.
6. List of sources used (in English):
- subtitle ‘References’ (separate paragraph, 12 pt, semi-bold font, capital letters, centred);
- list of sources used in accordance with APA standards (7th edition, 2020) APA Style.
7. Brief information about the author(s) in Ukrainian and English: surname, first name, patronymic name – academic degree, academic title, position, personal e-mail, name of higher education institution, ORCID of the author(s), legal address of the institution, date of first submission of the article for publication.

Lists in the text are formatted as follows:
- numbered: «1.», «1)», «a)»;
- marked: «– », «•».
Tables
Tables are numbered. The word ‘Table 1’ is written in italics in the right-hand corner. Table title format: centred title, bold font, positioned above the table. One line should be left blank after the table.

Figures
Figures are numbered. The format of the figure caption is as follows: centred title, italics, placement – below the figure, marked with the abbreviated word ‘Fig.’. One line must be left before and after the figure.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SET:
Abbreviations such as ‘et al.’ and ‘etc.’ in names and surnames (e.g., K. Ushynsky), names of settlements such as Kyiv, Pavlysh are printed with a non-breaking space. Abbreviations such as “90s” and ‘1st’ are printed with a non-breaking hyphen.
When typing text, distinguish between the dash ‘ – ’ and the hyphen ‘-’.
The main type of quotation marks is ‘’.
