Global trends in school education: the vector of change for the Ukrainian school of the future

Abstract

The article explores the leading global trends in school education and substantiates the vectors of their adaptation for the Ukrainian school of the future in the context of overcoming the consequences of war and extreme crises. The impact of global instability on educational systems is analysed, defining the strategic necessity of transitioning the domestic school from a temporary survival model to sustainable educational resilience. Key macro-trends of 2025-2026 are examined, including the systemic integration of artificial intelligence (AI) as basic infrastructure, the shift towards hyperpersonalised learning, and the evolving role of the teacher within the «augmented educator» paradigm. Within this framework, educators are empowered to delegate routine administrative tasks to AI, allowing them to focus profoundly on individualised mentoring and cognitive development. It is proven that effectively overcoming large-scale learning losses and the psychological trauma of Ukrainian students requires a careful synergy of high technologies (High-Tech) and a deep human-centric approach (High-Touch). This balanced synergy ensures that digital tools enhance, rather than replace, human empathy and psychological support in the classroom. A comprehensive vector of change is proposed based on three pillars: technological compensation via AI tools, organisational resilience through flexible hybrid formats, and value-based healing through socio-emotional learning (SEL) and well-being programs. Ultimately, this transformation will lay a solid foundation for developing a globally competitive and emotionally resilient generation capable of driving Ukraine's post-war recovery.
