Digital tools for supporting personalised learning of higher education students
Abstract
In the publication there is presented an analysis of the higher education transformation in Ukraine, defined by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and full-scale military aggression. These factors became the accelerants for the transition from traditional, standardised learning models to personalised educational paradigms, where digital tools serve as the foundation for the resilience and continuity of learning. The author highlights the issue of implementing individual educational trajectories (IET) and designing a unique pathway for a higher education student. The aim of the work is to justify and analyse the functional capabilities of digital platforms for active support of personalised higher education in conditions of digital transformation and under martial law. The study is based on the updated legislative framework of Ukraine (in particular, the 2024 reforms), which establishes the student's right to freely choose the pace of learning (from 3 to 8 years), the variety of interdisciplinary programmes, and the recognition of non-formal education results. The essence of IET is revealed as a dynamic process where an education seeker is an active subject in designing their own learning. These are identified the key components of personalised education: from adaptive technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) to alternative assessment through e-portfolios. Attention is paid to the classification of basic infrastructure digital tools (Moodle, Canvas, Google Classroom), services for content adaptation (LearningApps, Classcraft), and tools for interactive collaboration (Miro, Padlet, Kahoot!). The practical experience of Odesa I.I. Mechnikov National University is analised regarding the implementation of digital tools that ensure academic freedom and support of personalised learning. This experience fosters a culture of lifelong learning, preparing specialists for the challenges of the modern world. Future research perspectives are associated with the advancement of intelligent systems and the enhancement of digital competencies among participants of the higher education learning process.
