WAYS OF IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS IN GRAPHICS DISCIPLINES

Abstract

The article presents some results of long-term observations of students' training from the course of sketch geometry and engineering graphics and ways to increase students' interest in acquiring knowledge of graphic training. Lately, one can observe how students' interest in geometric methods of solving problems of sketch geometry has decreased; they do not have the habit of thinking in geometric images, creating logical chains of algorithms for constructing solutions to problems. But a modern specialist needs to think in spatial geometric images, develop algorithms for solving complex problems, divide complex problems into several simpler ones, and execute and read blueprints. There is a need to stimulate students while mastering the basics of graphic geometry and technical drawing courses and for the teacher to find ways to interest students in the discipline. One way to increase students’ interest in studying graphic disciplines is the Olympiads, which are held annually at the Ihor Sikorsky National Technical University of Ukraine. Another way to increase students’ interest in the study of graphic disciplines to improve the quality of knowledge is through student circles' organisation and active work on geometric modelling of technical objects and complex problems in engineering graphics. In the groups, students prepare to participate in the Olympiad in engineering and computer graphics and the scientific and practical conference of students, postgraduates and young scientists, "Applied geometry, engineering graphics and objects of intellectual property", which is held annually at the KNGIKG FMF NTUU. In groups, students study some course questions that are not included in the general program of the discipline and improve their skills in developing algorithms for solving geometric spatial problems and skills for their implementation in a complex drawing. The method of training students includes the important issue of modelling solutions to geometric problems in various ways, their analysis and the selection of the optimal construction algorithm on a complex drawing.
