Emotional intelligence in the learning and professional life of higher education students
Abstract
The article examines the role of emotional intelligence in the educational process and professional life of higher education students. It outlines effective methods for developing emotional intelligence and substantiates its theoretical foundations and practical significance in students’ academic and professional development. The theoretical framework of emotional intelligence is analysed, including the definition of the concept, its main components, and the evolution of the theory in the works of foreign and Ukrainian scholars. The key components of emotional intelligence are identified as self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, and social skills. The study explores the influence of emotional intelligence on students’ academic performance, highlights its importance for professional activity, and reviews effective programs and methods for fostering emotional intelligence within the educational process. Various diagnostic tools for assessing the level of emotional intelligence, as well as educational programs, methods, and training practices aimed at its development in higher education institutions, are also considered.
